Can we talk about how my pregnancy is flying by? The 1st trimester lagged, but this 2nd trimester just flew by -- total textbook, and I'm officially in my 3rd trimester. This is exciting, yet so terrifying. I've been over reading pregnancy books for quite some time... what I need to focus on is bringing home baby. I was texting one of my best friends last week, confiding in her what I'm most nervous about. Her response was exactly what I needed to hear -- "Birth is fine and you'll be a great mom. You always have everything under control. It's an easy change. Definitely different. But you'll wonder what you ever did without him." It's just now hitting me hard that I'm not just pregnant... I'm going to be a mom..... and soon. This excites more than words can convey, but makes me a little uneasy also! My friend also told me "I was at a bar last night for girls night thirsty Thursday and all I wanted to do was go home and rock Brooks to sleep" -- I can't wait to have this connection with my son!
Due Date: June 28, 2013
Due Date: June 28, 2013
Gender: Boy
Movement: There's still a lot of movement going on - kicking, punching and rolling. He started to hiccup a couple weeks ago and it's hilarious!
Feeling: I'm actually feeling really, really good! A few weeks ago my body had such bad aches and pains, but they've either subsided or I'm used to them now -- Either way, I'm much more comfortable. I'm also sleeping better, still have lots of daytime energy and haven't experienced any moodiness... yet. Overall, I'm feeling amazing and am really enjoying this pregnancy!
Food Cravings: No true cravings, but I'm still eating a lot of fruit! Watermelon, red grapes, blueberries and pineapple are my must haves. I've been eating quite a bit of candy lately, but I think it's because of Easter. And I'm happy to report that I'm back to drinking only water. I have 1 glass of organic milk with dinner... other than that, water water water. I'm like a camel over here -- just can't ever get enough -- on average, I'm drinking 90 oz. of water a day... which leads to many trips to the bathroom!
Food Aversions: salmon, v8 -- 2 things I generally LOVE
Clothes: I'm all over the place with clothes, but as the weeks go by, I'm forced to wear more and more maternity wear. I'm still fitting in my longer shirts (the t-shirt I'm wearing in this post is a pre-pregnancy shirt from Nordstrom), all of my yoga pants/pj's/lounge wear and, of course, my flowy sweaters. But I'm officially in maternity jeans only! I'm so happy sundress weather is here to stay because most of my pre-pregnancy dresses fit and I know I'll be living in them from here on out! I did purchase several dresses recently, all non-maternity, just sized up... hoping they'll get me through these next months leading up to the baby's arrival and this summer when I'm still carrying around the extra lbs. I've found that if I don't wear fitted clothes, thanks to my naturally wide hips and bigger butt, I look like a whale (think Kim Kardashian... dead serious!)... so I'm sticking to fitted tops as opposed to flowy tunics and sundresses.
Stretch Marks: None -- Cocoa butter and prayers to the stretch mark Gods are in full affect!
Stretch Marks: None -- Cocoa butter and prayers to the stretch mark Gods are in full affect!
Sleep: Sleep has gotten a little bit better -- I wake up to use the restroom about once or twice throughout the night and my sides/hips hurt a bit still (sharp pains), but it's become much more bearable. I'm happy to have my cocoon of body pillows out of the bed. Currently I'm sleeping with 1 small throw pillow to help support my belly. We're getting a reclining glider for the nursery and I'm wondering if sleeping in it a couple times a week will help alleviate the pain I feel in my sides when I sleep... Bryan won't like the idea of that, but I'll do what I have to to get a good nights sleep :)
Symptoms: Minor heart burn. Lots of daytime energy. Small bladder. Aches and pains, primarily located in my tailbone. It totally sucks because sitting... on the couch, in a chair, at the kitchen table, in the car, etc... hurts badly, but you can't get around it. I often find myself sitting on a pillow for added cushion. And sweet Bryan massages my tailbone a few nights a week... it feels like heaven! As my mom tells me to tell him... and I do, "you did this to me" ;)

What I Miss: Eating sunny side up eggs, salami and tuna fish (several times/week). Bending over and picking things up off the ground easily. Sleeping through the night without waking to use the restroom. Moving easily in my sleep -- Now I moan and groan when I adjust positions, and along with this adjusting of my body, comes the adjustment of the pillows that now surround me. Getting out of bed easily is starting to become a challenge. I also miss sitting comfortably... now my tailbone/butt hurt from the second I sit and I need to adjust positions constantly to take the weight and pressure off of my tailbone.
Best Moment: When Bryan and I cuddle on the couch to watch tv at night he puts his arm around my waist, like he always has, and he rests his hand on my belly so that he can feel all of the baby's jolts for hours. It's my favorite... and his!
Memorable Moments:
Week 25: Strangers -- This is the week I've been waiting for! This week strangers started to ask me about my pregnancy and comment on it. The first person to do this said, with the sweetest southern accent, "You look so cute pregnant"... made my week!
Week 25: Measuring Ahead -- I was told that I'm measuring ahead for my 2nd appointment in a row, and back in week 18 my ultrasound specialist told me that the baby was measuring big. I didn't think to question anything, but now I'm curious to know how far ahead I'm measuring... I'll be making sure to find out at my next appointment, which is tomorrow.

Week 26: Hiccups -- I had been experiencing this weird feeling in my mid-region all the way through my back, but didn't know what it was. It wasn't his normal movement. My whole mid section would quickly jolt (from belly, around my sides, my back, etc). After a few days I realized it was the hiccuping that we all here about. And oh my word... it makes me laugh just about every time he's doing it!
Week 27: Tiredness -- I'm perfectly fine throughout the day, but fatigue is starting to set in at night. I go to bed very early (and so does Bryan) and I sleep more hours than I'm willing to share...
Week 27: Coming Home Outfit -- Our little guys coming home from the hospital outfit came in the mail and I'm entirely ecstatic!
*** I've been doing these bump updates every 4 weeks, but now that I'm really in the thick of things and my body and symptoms are changing at a rapid pace, I'm going to start doing them every 2 weeks, for my personal documentation. We'll see if I can keep up with it!
Yes, thank your 5'9" frame! Because my 5'2 frame is dying over here! lol You look great! So fun reading your posts and seeing how similar I feel to how you're feeling! I definitely know what you mean about the "mom" part setting in. It's like I have known I would have a baby this entire time.. but all the sudden I am going to be a MOM! Terrifying and exciting all at the same time!
ReplyDeleteYou tall people do have it easier. I hear you don't have as many aches and pains because you have more room.
ReplyDeleteAs for being nervous, I was the same. My big thing was about feeding her and the sleep thing. Going to be honest, I was relieved when I made the decision not to breastfeed. I had so much anxiety and nervousness about it and it just made 'our' life easier. Again, this is a totally personal decision but I really believe it made our transition smoother. As far as the sleep thing.. We swaddled and did BabyWise and it's been great from the beginning. YAY!! you're getting close!
I love the updates, so I'm happy to see they'll be more frequent! You look radiant. Such a cute note about the hiccups!
